In fact it’s a lot more sustainable and manageable in the long term. There are a number of healthier ingredients to substitute the high calorie ones, without sacrificing on taste. Having said that calories aren’t the be all and end all of a healthy diet. Agreed, surplus calories translate to excess fat but the nutritional content of food is of utmost importance. You could be eating low calorie foods with zero nutritional value, which will do you little good. In fact most “low-calorie” ready-to-go snacks available on the market shelves have additives, which have been added to enhance flavor. Amidst the rush to concentrate on nutrients like carbohydrates, fat and proteins, we have almost forgotten about foods as a whole. While we may not be able to distinguish between nutrients at a microscopic level, we can definitely segregate the good foods from the bad. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.
