Body Types Explained : Ectomorphs,Mesomorphs & Endomorphs

The way you body looks is a direct outcome of genetics and environmental factors; namely nutrition and training. There’s a simple system used to classify the different body types; called “somatotype”.Ectomorph-Mesomorph-Endomorph. Most individuals display a dominant somatotype, while some may even exhibit the characteristics of two groups. Aside from the apparent differences in body type, individuals mainly differ in the efficiency with which they burn calories. Ectomorphs torch more fuel, on a pound to pound basis and consequently require more calories. While Endomorphs, fail to burn off energy with the same proficiency and consequently require fewer calories. Mesomorphs fall right in the middle.

When they say, “Know your body” understanding your body type and its consequent needs may save you the hassle of counting calories and experimenting. Now you may ask “ Is it possible to change my body type?”While it’s nearly impossible to change your inherent characteristics like your bone structure, the same isn’t true for your body fat and muscle tone. While it may be harder for an endomorph to cut fat or an ectomorph to gain muscle mass; it’s not unheard of. The right nutrition and training can help alter that.
