Cinnamon Spiced Apple Oatmeal

Ingredients

  1. ½ tablespoon unsalted butter
  2. 1 mediumapple, 
  3. 2 tablespoons honey
  4. 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  5. ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  6. ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  7. pinch of salt
  8. 2 cups water
  9. 1 cup old fashioned oats
  10. 1/4th cup chopped walnuts 
  11. ½ cup milk 

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium high heat. Add 1 cup of the apples, the honey and the spices and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the apples are softened.

2. Pour in the water, turn the heat up to high, and bring to a low boil. Add the oats. Cook, stirring occasionally for 3-5 more minutes.

3. Add the walnuts (if using) and cook until most of the liquid is absorbed.Splash some milk and serve.
