When I'm Thin.....

When I’m thin…..

I’ll start wearing that top.

They’ll like me for who I am.

I’ll be better at doing X.

We’ve all said this (in some form) or known someone who has.

There’s this little voice inside us that strongly believes that when we’re skinny, or beautiful, or rich – we will finally be happy.

Unfortunately, losing weight doesn’t cure the emotional state we’re in.

Losing weight doesn’t change the way we feel about ourselves or the beliefs we have about ourselves.

I am here to tell you, that everything you think being thin will give you is something you need to be willing to seek now, regardless of your current weight.

Your body has been designed to protect you through all stages of your life. Respecting it’s welfare is probably the best thing you can do for yourself. (Yes, it’s better than kale juice.)

So, if you want to heal your relationship with your body, here’s what you can do:

You need to want to change.

You need to commit to balance – that means no extremes. Our bodies respond well to gentle changes.

You need to see health as a forever situation. A life commitment. Think about your health instead – that’s what matters. When you finally stop obsessing about your weight, you’ll give it the opportunity to balance out on its own.

You need to BELIEVE that you can heal yourself. Everyone can. Remember that you’re worthy of feeling good about yourself. You have control over your thoughts – no one else. You’re too precious to let food or ridiculous body standards define you.

You need to show a little gratitude and stop focusing on the negatives. Are you breathing? Are you able to walk up a flight of stairs? Can you see? Take a minute and thank your body for all the stuff our bodies do right.

Forgive yourself for the past and do your best to make better choices from now on. Look ahead, not behind.

You need to realise that the healthier you are, the more you will enjoy your life. Health and enjoyment can coexist. On the flipside the practices you adopt will only prove to be sustainable if they don’t stress you out and you actually enjoy them!

No matter what remember that you aren’t defined by your weight. Not now, not ever.

Healthy body image isn’t about believing that your body looks good. It’s about knowing it is good – regardless of how it looks.

If you’re sick of being stuck in an abusive relationship with diets, and want a different one with food, our signature weight-neutral style of coaching is just for you!

This may seem obvious, but here, we don't prescribe diets or hyper-focus on weight change. We know that food and body image issues run deep and that there is so much more to your health than the size of your jeans.

So, instead of focusing on external cues like calorie counting, food intake, and restrictive rules – we focus on behavior change, and internal cues like hunger and empower clients to trust their bodies to make the best decisions for themselves and find long-term healing.

Think of us like guide dogs. You know where you want to go, but we just help you navigate the obstacles along the way.
